I discovered them by accident a couple of weeks ago but was pulled into their discography by their 2021 song "Eat More" from the album Buds. I listened to Buds in it entirety and then waltzed over to their 2018 30 minute album called Tru. They are from Connecticut, I think four members total, inspired by the likes of Basement and Dinosaur Jr. Seems they went on a music hiatus briefly after they released Buds in 2021 and then released a Demos album of Buds in 2025. I hope they make more music though, I'm digging the soft vocal heavier guitar combination and the lyrics paint a poignant East Coast picture which is satisfying- it's been a dreary Vermont week here. Entry On August 18th, 2026 Today I am listening to the band dadlore. I discovered them this week and have been adding basically their entire discography, which is pretty minimal overall to my September 2026 playlist. They are incredibly small right now, (less than 30k monthly listeners on Spotify) but the quality of their music is really impressive. I like their online energy, I haven't had a chance to delve into their youtube yet but probably will later. Definitely boycomma energy, which makes sense considering both bands are in the Southerin California post 2022 shoegaze emo scene. I see a lot of similairites from the angsty soft vocals, the crisp guitar leads, the drum bridges use of melodic crescendos, yearnful lyrics. I don't know, I guess I'm just excited to see how this scene develops in the coming years.
